HERE'S SOME QUICK HEALTH TIPS

THINKING OF CUTTING BACK?

Smoking can be harmful to you and those around you. If you are pregnant, inhaling cigarette smoke can cause lasting damage until your grandchildren. If you are thinking about quitting or cutting back, visit the quitnow website and talk to your GP.

FEELING LOW?

According to the WHO, mental illness is defined as being able to realise your own potential, deal with the stresses of everyday life, work productively and make a contribution to your community. Rather than being about illness, mental health is about your wellness, so if you’re feeling down, check out beyondblue and talk to your GP or family members.

HOW'S YOUR HEART?

Maintaining a balanced diet with regular exercise is essential in keeping your hearth in good health. Check out the Healthy Eating and Active Living guides by the Heart Foundation for more information on keeping a healthy heart.

BEEN OUT FOR A WALK?

The amount of physical activity you should be doing varies with age, however adults (18-64 years) should maintain anywhere between 150 to 300 minutes of moderate exercise per week. Find out what you need to be doing to stay in shape on the Australian Physical Activity Guidelines.

HOW'S YOUR DIET?

Your current diet could be putting you at risk of developing various disorders, ranging from vitamin deficiencies all the way to heart failure. Take a look at the Australian Dietary Guidelines and see how your diet compares.

ONE TOO MANY?

Have you considered how your alcohol consumption may be harming your health? Both chronic (>2 standards a day) and binge (>4 standards in one day) drinking can lead to serious health problems. If you need more information, visit the DrinkWise website and book an appointment with your GP.
